Richard Leonard "The Iceman" Kuklinski (April 11, 1935 – March 5, 2006) was an American contract killer. The six foot five inch (196 cm), 300 pound (135 kg) hitman worked for Newark's DeCavalcante crime family and New York City's Five Families. He claimed to have murdered over 250 men over a career that lasted from 1948 till 1986. He claimed to have killed his first victim at the age of 13. He was the older brother of convicted pedophile and murderer Joseph Kuklinski. He spent the last years of his freedom living with his wife and children in Dumont, New Jersey.


  • One of USA's worst murderers. As a Mafia hitman, he claimed to have murdered over 100 people.
  • He typically used cyanide administered from a nasal spray on his victims and earned the nickname "The Iceman" because he kept some bodies in a freezer. He was serving consecutive life sentences at New Jersey State Prison for two murders at the time of his death in 2006.
  • He was a notorious Mafia hitman known as "The Iceman" who claimed to have killed more than 100 people and was the subject of several books and two cable television documentaries.
